Manifesto
BOBCOM is an independent website that offers its users the most comprehensively empowering tools available anywhere on the net.
Its lingua franca is music. In simple terms, BOBCOM might be seen as an alternative one-stop-shop for independent music, musicians and fans. It is a place for the music-minded to gather, interact, debate, locate, buy and sell.
But it is far more than a music shop or social network. BOBCOM’s ethos is new and its goal is change.
BOBCOM supports radical originality. Its objective is to engage ambitious, energetic and revolutionary web users to find and liberate talent. Of itself, BOBCOM has no role in coaching talent. That power rests solely and exclusively with the BOBCOM web community. BOBCOM's core purpose is to create avenues of opportunity for new talent, and to powerfully transmit the unedited, unaffiliated and democratic voice of the web.
On BOBCOM, users join a community of peers and write their own rule book in terms of musical pursuits. The site is committed to originality and a long-term evolutionary development moulded by its members. It is loaded with empowering benefits. For example, musicians, fans and event organizers can locate musicians with unparalleled geo-specific accuracy. Independent musicians of all types and levels of experience can sell their music. An embedded media player offers an effective on-site streamed audition platform. A variety of bespoke music-based games will shortly be freely available. All the usual events calendars, blog mechanisms and social interactivities are here. But there is more. At its heart, BOBCOM recognizes the overwhelming influence of television as a tool for emerging musical talent. Within the site is a portal to a TV show for ambitious independent musicians. And the TV show, like the website, is revolutionary.
BOBCOM recognises the ubiquity of the jury of three principle in judging talent in contemporary television and sets out to challenge this.
BOBCOM gives the power of choice, expression - and distinction - unconditionally back to the web user.
